Woakes removes Guptill with a peach of a delivery

New Zealand off to a decent start in the World Cup final against England

New Zealand, who are playing their second consecutive World Cup final, were off to a decent start against England as they scored at a scoring rate of 5 runs per over in the first five overs without losing a wicket.

Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat first. As New Zealand’s openers came out to bat, the bowling duo of Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer tested Martin Guptill and Mark Nichols, but they survived the scare started to score comparatively freely in the third over.

They contributed 24 runs together in the first five overs, with Guptill being the main aggressor. New Zealand fans and the management must be expecting an explosive inning from the man as he has not done anything significant so far in the tournament with the bat.

As Guptill started to look dangerous, Woakes trapped in front of the stumps with a beautiful incoming delivery, which struck his back pad. Though the Kiwi batsman took the review, but three reds on the screen forced him to go back to the dressing room.
